first of all, i have severe arachnophobia.
rationally, i know most spiders are harmless, but something takes over my brain and my body when i see one........i totally freak out, i can't help it.
they are little pieces of death, wrapped in scarey...... .
Well, people afraid of flying have taken up flying lessons in attempt to deconstruct the mechanics of flying and see why it's the safest means of transportation....
Maybe you can learn somenthing about the creatures and understand their complete apathy towards humans....just saying.

there was a knock on the door this morning.
i opened it to find a young man standing there who said: "i'm a jehovah's witness.".
i said "come in and sit down, what do you want to talk about?".

According to me, earthquakes are on the decline.
Let me explain.
Growing up in Eastern Europe, along a fault line, I vividly remember at least 5 earthquakes (the last one in 1989). I am talking the ground shaking, the walls squeaking, that unmistakable feeling in the core of your gut that something is throwing off your balance - if you've experienced an earthquake, you know what I am talking about...
Fast forward now...in the last 20 years I've been living on the East US coast...not one earthquake, NOT ONE!

i'm james i'm new to this forum as of today and i'm a ex-jw who was "born into the truth" and then left it officially at the age of twenty after "drifting out" of it for some time.
i'm now 34 and whilst i'm not exactly happy with the world i'm living in, i'm largely happy with my own life.. one question i've got about this forum - i didn't join for a long time because i thought it was for active jw's (based on the web-site url), not ex jw's, but then looking at the threads, it seems it is more for ex-jw's!
what is the demographic for the membership?

i try to make the point that, even if you do not support the witnesses (and most don't) you should support freedom of thought, expression and religion.. if you are interested in checking it out, here it is: "snuffing out religious freedom in russia".

This is not in defense of JYD, but for the use of the same old slippery slope fallacy to make a point.
then see what happens?.....then what stops us from banning religion altogether..then who's to say that we shouldn't ban the right of free speech...then it is just as easy to ban entertainment...then we can ban eating outdoors...then cars, planes and traveling can be banned...then we can ban free existense and stick everyone in a camp..then we can just kill everyone who does not conform.....

JYD is obviously very passionate about his views and, frankly, he may have his reasons to feel this way.
The point of the criticism on this thread is the fact that the JW broke the law in Russia and got punished for it. What law has JYD broken so far?
